As you've mentioned before, this would be extremely useful for planning activities, like ordering t-shirts or picking a cruise.
Not sure the best way to do this, but maybe you could mark a thread as WikiStyle, and within that thread everyone is allowed to edit the same post.
Or maybe when a different persion edits the same post, it creates a new version of the post for to create some sort of post history.
