So I didnt post about this right away because I was going to do some kind of "oh whats that new car in the driveway" thing when I got home, but that never really happened.. so anyway..

I bought a new car! It's a Silver 2009 Nissan Sentra. It's pretty awesome, and its got lots of goodies, but here are a few highlights:

  • Continuously Variable Transmission
  • Aux audio port for ipod listening
  • Integrated Bluetooth for cellphone -> carphone action (no more missed calls because I didnt hear it ringing in my pocket!)
  • Lots of trip info readouts, like MPG, Miles Until Empty, Trip Time, etc
  • Sweet hidden compartment in the trunk -- basically splits the trunk 40-60 front to back, good for all kinds of creative uses
  • Intelligent Key Fob -- proximity deally so i can keep the keys in my pocket the entire time; i can unlock with a button on each front door, and I can start the car by turning a little plastic deally, all with the key fob in my pocket
mpg?
curious to see how the cvt feels
they didn't do some dumb shit like introducing fake jerks to simulate the feel of a standard transmission, did they? i've read that it's been suggested to emulate the satisfying jerk of a non-CVT transmission to reduce marketing problems (people feel like they're not getting as much power if they don't feel like it's changing gears)
yeah that's what i've read too, so i was wondering if the sentra has it
hmm i hope it doesn't.. when the salesmen were talking about it they specifically mentioned eliminating shift shock.

btw I reset my MPG counter last night on my way home, and after i got to work this morning it's reading 34.2
i got some extra cloth left over from the curtain augmenting, 1 sentra drag chute coming up
