i accidentally clicked an ok box on a popup (trying to do alt-space-c) and now my background is blue with a "you gots a virus!" thing and my screen saver is a fake bluescreenofdeath, which freaked me out the first two times. somehow they removed screensaver and background tabs from my display properties box. virus scan doesnt even detect the piece of shit. any ideas?
it coincided with a covert install of this program: antivirusxp2008.com

it comes with an uninstall .exe but i really dont want to run that . . .
nm got it

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System has keys NoDispScrSavPage and NoDispBackgroundPage. i set their values to 0 and that worked, but i dunno if it created those registry keys in the first place. can you tell me if you have them?

also do you have the key:

hklm/software/microsoft/windows NT/currentversion/winlogon "Shell=Explorer.exe"

?

thanks!
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ doesn't even have a "System" key.

Yeah that key contains Shell=Explorer.exe
