Drew: so many drs on 409
Mike:

aaaahahah i will anon'lypost this on the wall of the resident room ;)

Drew: kinda disappointed we've never done this
acelxix:

So you're saying you want to dress as a sexy nurse?  Or maybe man-faye?

mwinter:

Drew:

OG emo

acelxix:

The image text for the tongue awareness xkcd referenced charles shultz, and I figured he'd written a similar comic, but I never got around to looking it up.  There's a discussion on xkcd that has a link to the original:

acelxix:

zomg what happened to smbc? :(  it's down right now, wtf?

mwinter:

dunno, it was fine for me this morning.

just did a search for smbc stuff on google, one result was to smbc-theater (DONT OPEN IT) which i think is where they host their little videos, and when i opened it it was full of keywords and links and definitely looked hacked. probably a good idea to stay away if you run windows :)

Drew:

some sort of sopa protest?

mwinter:

I dont think so. The front page is back, but things using the database (forum, store) seem to be pretty broken. Maybe he got hacked again, or maybe a server crashed and they're restoring from backups?

acelxix:

Right before I posted I checked out smbc-theater, but didn't really pay attention to the content.  My work laptop probably has the hard drive HIV, but I'm not showing any symptoms right now, so if you guys really love me you'll still swap data with me.

Drew: remember, according to law you have to disclose to all your data swapping partners
ezmac102:

are you sure SMBC isn't participating in the SOPA and PIPA boycott?  cuz xkcd is.

ezmac102:

woops never mind.  just checked smbc.  they're boycotting.

ezmac102:

google too

acelxix:

smbc is protesting today, but I noticed some comments yesterday from 1/15 and 1/17 talking about them moving to a new city.  I doubt he hosts his site on a server at home, but the outtage could've be related.

Here's a list of sites protesting.  It's probably not comprehensive, but impressive.  nerds unite!

Drew:

went ahead and sent an email to the one senator whose website is working and the congressional representative for PMC, very easy process, and i went ahead and threw in some NDAA hate too
